The East Anglian Regional round of the English Schools Multi-Event Championships were held in Chelmsford on Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd saw many Thurrock Harriers compete for Essex against teams from Bedfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire and Suffolk. Essex had a great weekend with teams across age groups coming first.


The Senior Boys Decathlon saw Theo Adesina gain 3 pbs; Shot 12.7, Jav 46.85m, & overall 5838. Unfortunately Liam Chivers had to withdraw from the competition with an injury.


Ruby Bridger and Tilly Monk were in Intermediate Girls Heptathlon; Tilly gained pbs in Shot 8.31, & 800m 2:37. Ruby gained a club record with her pb in Shot of 11.36.


Competing in the Junior Girls Pentathlon and gaining pbs were Shenaiah Allen-McKenna, Ogechuwu Nzekwe, Sara Sardi, and Jodie Self.


Theo, Ruby, Shenaiah and Ogechuwu have been selected to represent Essex in the Final Championships in September held in Exeter. They will be joined by Ore who will be representing Kent Schools.


Meanwhile on Saturday (23rd) Funminiyi Olajide competed in the England U20 Championships in Bedford. Her pb in LJ of 6.18m saw her come 4th, narrowly missing selection for the European Junior Championships.
