Saturdays (12th) saw an encouraging start for Thurrock Harriers in their first Essex Cross Country League race on a tough, wet and muddy course, at One Tree Hill.

The Under 13 Girls, with Cheyenne Dagher finishing in the top ten, together with Multi Events girls showing commitment to cross country, Sophie Matthews 19th and Lucy Chapelhow 25th 

Under 13 Boys, outstanding run from Harry Wyatt coming in first place, followed by Alfie Squibb 11th, Teddy Squibb 28th, also in their league debut race was Lucas Willett 42nd, Jake Saunders 45th and Daniel Brown another multi eventer just turned 11 finished 48th.

Under 15 Girls, an impressive run from Jayne Elvin coming in 3rd, with a solid run from Rosie Spring 17th.Under 15 Boy, was Tom Peacock his first year in this age group, coming in a respectable 21st place.

Under 17 Women, another great run from Demi Eves in first place, with a strong run from Sarah Blockley in 9th, together with Emily Fall 22nd and Leah Brewer 32nd.

Under 17 Men, committed runs from Dylan Harrod 10th, Sunny Vehit 15th and Lowe 16th.

Senior Women, debut race in the senior age group for Hayley Instance with a creditable 11th place, running as a guest was Loretta Sollars in 22nd, the ever hard working Jodie Farrell in 35th and a solid run from Victoria Peacock 40th.

Senior Men, a great start for Leon Wheeler 4th, Taylor Newell 11th, Ben Prior 24th and below par Alec Finch 52nd, Impressive run by Keith Willett 81st, closely followed by Robert Doyle in 82nd with a team result of 5th place. 

Vet category stalwart’s Eamonn Shelley 159th and Bernie Johnson in 195th
