Thurrock Harriers Athletics Club Admission Policy

This policy runs jointly with the Club Membership Policy

THAC welcomes all ages from 8 years upwards regardless of social, cultural, and religious backgrounds.

Thurrock Harriers operates on a first come first served basis once an ‘expression of interest’ form has been completed. Admission is based on consultation with the Membership Secretary and Coaches to ensure that a suitable place can be offered in a coaching group.  An athlete will be admitted providing the Membership Secretary is confident that the Club can meet their needs in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Membership may only be refused where admission may be contrary to the best interests of the sport or the good conduct and interests of the Club.

The Club will determine the level of fees paid by different categories of membership.

All new admissions will be agreed at Committee and recorded in meeting minutes.

Where coaching groups are full an applicant may be put on the waiting list, which will be reviewed regularly.

When an athlete joining the Club in a particular event wishes to change to another event, they may be put back on the waiting list until a suitable place becomes available.

Membership is not transferrable to anyone else.

Under 11s

Athletes in the Under 11 section will not be automatically be offered full membership when they reach 11 years of age.

Full membership is dependent on available places.

The Under 11 list will be reviewed in January each year with a view to moving athletes into coaching groups where places are available. Date of signing up will be the principal consideration.

The Under 11s will pay a termly fee (inclusive of track fee).
